Chemical Pregnancy Not Indicative of Infertility

To make a diagnosis of a chemical pregnancy, blood work is done to assess levels of hCG. A sudden decrease in hCG levels, can indicate a miscarriage. After undergoing several hCG tests, often an ultrasound is done to find any signs of life in the uterus. With a chemical pregnancy, no implantation of an embryo will be seen and no heartbeat will be heard. There is goods news for women who have experienced a chemical pregnancy, and that is that having a chemical pregnancy proves that you are indeed capable of conception. Usually a chemical pregnancy is not indicative of a fertility problem. Although, fertility experts say if a woman has at least three or more consecutive pregnancy losses, genetic testing and blood work up should be done to determine the cause. A great majority of women who encounter a chemical pregnancy go on to have happy and healthy pregnancies in the future. Actually, the likelihood of experiencing multiple chemical pregnancies is very remote.
